The East Course was the first of Powerscourt's two modern championship layouts, opening in 1996 on the historic Powerscourt Estate.
Peter McEvoy routed the course through the estate landscape and its rolling foothill terrain, producing a parkland course with some moorland and links-like characteristics.
Powerscourt later added the David McLay Kidd-designed West Course, creating a 36-hole operation while retaining the East as a distinct layout.
Both Powerscourt courses are open to visitors, with the East continuing to operate as a separate championship course.
