The Quail Golf Club at Quail Lodge is an 18-hole, par-71 course in Carmel, California. Robert Muir Graves designed the original course, which opened in July 1964 and was his first 18-hole design. The course was created from former dairy-farm land and runs beside the Carmel River for several holes, with naturally sandy, well-draining soils.
The present layout is approximately 6,500 yards. Architect Todd Eckenrode later refined the course, with work that included changes to the opening and closing stretches, added fairway contouring and modifications around the 16th and 17th holes. The golf operation forms part of Quail Lodge and includes a golf shop, instruction and practice facilities.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 71, 5,944m (6,500 yards). Designed by Robert Muir Graves, the course originally opened in 1964. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf Shop, Golf Academy, Practice Range, Restaurant, Accommodation.
The course was created from a former dairy farm in Carmel Valley and opened in July 1964. Robert Muir Graves designed the layout, his first completed 18-hole course. The site offered sandy, well-drained soils and the Carmel River borders the property for several holes.
Todd Eckenrode subsequently carried out a significant refinement of the Graves course. His work strengthened the opening and closing portions of the round, introduced additional fairway contouring and altered features around the 16th and 17th holes, including removal of some ponds.
The Quail remains an 18-hole par-71 resort course measuring approximately 6,500 yards and is operated as part of Quail Lodge in Carmel.
