Located within RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, Breckland Pines Golf Course is an 18-hole parkland layout renowned for its excellent year-round playing conditions. Built on free-draining sandy soil and supported by a comprehensive fairway irrigation system, the course maintains high-quality fairways and greens throughout the seasons, delivering an enjoyable golfing experience for both regular members and visiting players.
Although the course occupies the footprint of a traditional nine-hole layout, it features 18 distinct holes through the use of separate teeing positions and varied playing angles, creating a full championship-length round with plenty of variety. The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. The course originally opened in 1961. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Putting Green, Lessons, Golf Cart Rental, Club Hire, Restaurant, Bistro.
RAF Lakenheath's golf course dates to 1961, when it opened as Lakenheath Golf Club to serve personnel stationed at the air base. It was built on Breckland terrain — the sandy, heather-covered heathland characteristic of this part of Suffolk — making use of naturally free-draining soil that keeps the course playable through the region's wetter months. The club was later renamed Breckland Pines Golf Course, the name it carries today.
The clubhouse in current use dates to 1984, housing the Breckland Pines Grill & Steakhouse alongside the course's pro shop and practice facilities.
