About Real Club de Golf Guadalmina

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina is a multi-course golf club in San Pedro de Alcántara, Málaga. Its South Course opened in 1959 and was designed by Javier Arana, with a second nine created by Arana during a later phase in the 1960s. The North Course was completed under Folco Nardi in the 1970s, and a separate nine-hole par-three course was added in 1989.

Together the property therefore contains 45 golf holes rather than only the two 18-hole courses often used to describe the club. The North is a par-72 parkland course with wider fairways and plays up to 5,600 metres from its published White tees; the South has its own distinct routing and architectural history. The club has hosted national championships, European Tour School qualifying and Ladies European Tour events.

The course is a 45-hole golf course. Designed by Javier Arana and Folco Nardi, the course originally opened in 1959. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Toptracer, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Practice Bunkers, Golf Academy, Junior Golf School, Pro Shop, and 3 more.

Origins

Norberto Goizueta and his family discovered Guadalmina in 1933 while travelling by boat. The estate was initially agricultural, but over subsequent decades farmland gave way to golf.

Did You Know?
The original South layout included a 666-yard par-six hole named 'Tipperary'.

Design Philosophy

Javier Arana designed the South Course in two stages, incorporating unusual strategic concepts including the original par-six Tipperary hole. Folco Nardi's North Course was conceived as a broader parkland layout with wider fairways, flatter greens and generally less bunker protection.

Development

The South Course was inaugurated in 1959. Arana returned during the 1960s to add another nine. The North Course followed under Folco Nardi in the 1970s, and the par-three course was added in 1989.

Recognition

The club has hosted major Spanish amateur and professional championships as well as European Tour School and Ladies European Tour events.

Today

Guadalmina operates two full 18-hole courses, a nine-hole par-three course and extensive practice facilities for members and visiting golfers.
