Redcliffe Golf Club operates an 18-hole course on Handsworth Street in Clontarf, Queensland. The course was designed by Stan Francis, construction began in 1935 and it opened for play in August 1936 as the Peninsula Country Golf Club. The present Redcliffe Golf Club was formed in 1960.
The championship Blue course measures 6,099 metres, plays to par 71 and has an Australian Course Rating of 72 with a slope of 123. White tees measure 5,937 metres at par 71, rating 71 and slope 121; the women's Red course measures 5,431 metres, par 73, rating 74 and slope 123. The layout remained essentially unchanged until 1985, when the ninth and tenth holes were rebuilt to reduce ball damage to adjoining residential property.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,099m (6,669 yards), course rating 72 and slope rating 123. Designed by Stan Francis, the course originally opened in 1936. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Putting greens, Short-game practice area, Practice bunker, Pro shop, Golf lessons, Club hire, Golf cart hire, Pull cart hire, and 4 more.
The course grew out of infrastructure development rather than an established golf club. R. Hornibrook Company, then building the Hornibrook Highway, purchased about 166 acres of predominantly farming land at Clontarf with the idea of establishing a golf course near the northern end of the new crossing.
Construction began in March 1935 under designer Stan Francis, and the Peninsula Country Golf Club course opened in August 1936.
Royal Queensland Golf Club acquired the freehold in 1957. Redcliffe Golf Club was formed at a community meeting on 15 September 1960 and initially relied on allocated playing times. The club secured a lease in 1966, a longer lease in 1971 and ultimately bought the freehold in 1980.
A broad course upgrade followed, and the ninth and tenth holes were rebuilt in 1985 to reduce ball damage to neighbouring property.
The club received the Metropolitan Golf Club of the Year award at the 2007 PGA Awards.
Redcliffe is now a visitor-accessible par-71 course with online social-golf booking, an established membership, practice facilities and clubhouse dining.
