River Oaks Golf Course is an 18-hole executive course in Ceres, California, sitting along the banks of the Tuolumne River in the Central Valley. Opened in 1979 and designed by Jim Phipps, the course has since been reshaped by a redesign led by the Thornberry and Hall families alongside head golf professional Greg N. Silva, who reworked the layout's landscaping and river-adjacent holes.
The course plays to a par of just 58 over 2,855 yards from the men's tees, split between an all-par-3 front nine sitting atop the river bluff and a mixed par-3/par-4 back nine that drops down below the bluff directly along the Tuolumne River. That short, accessible format makes River Oaks a popular choice for quick rounds, beginners and golfers looking to sharpen their short game rather than test their driver.
