Royal Golf Bled is Slovenia's oldest golf facility, with golf first played on its initial nine holes in 1937. The property now contains the 18-hole King's Course and the 9-hole Lake Course, so a single par or length should not be applied across the full 27-hole facility. Rudolf von Gelmini selected the site, prepared the original design and supervised construction, with Desider Lauber partially revising and completing the plan.
Donald Harradine extensively redesigned the course when golf was revived at Bled in the early 1970s. After new ownership arrived in 2014, Howard Swan of Swan Golf Designs led another major reconstruction. The King's Course reopened in 2017 after a two-year project that lengthened it for championship play and rebuilt or upgraded greens, tees and bunkers.
The course is a 27-hole resort golf course. Designed by Rudolf von Gelmini and Desider Lauber, the course originally opened in 1937. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Practice Bunker, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Restaurant, Accommodation.
The Drava Banovina purchased the Hraška meadow in 1936 for a golf course. The project was encouraged by Regent Prince Pavle Karađorđević, the Yugoslav royal court, diplomatic circles and local tourism interests. Austrian Rudolf von Gelmini chose the site, designed the course and supervised construction; Hungarian architect Desider Lauber later partially revised and completed the plan.
The first official game was played over the completed first nine holes in 1937. All 18 greens were completed the following year, but the course was soon abandoned as Europe moved toward the Second World War.
Golf returned to the property in the early 1970s. Donald Harradine extensively redesigned the course in 1972, and Golf Club Bled was established in 1975 before a formal opening in May 1977. New ownership arrived in 2014 and commissioned another major reconstruction from Howard Swan and Swan Golf Designs.
The King's Course was closed during the work and reopened in 2017 after a two-year project that extended it to championship length and upgraded greens, tees and bunkers.
Royal Bled operates the 18-hole King's Course alongside the 9-hole Lake Course, giving the property 27 holes in total.
