Sandy Burr Country Club is an 18-hole Donald Ross course in Wayland, Massachusetts, with public tee times alongside an active inner-club membership structure. The club was organized after Gus White began searching for a site in 1921. The present property combined the 59-acre Dwight farm and 123-acre Beebe farm.
Donald Ross laid out the course, with the first nine completed on June 26, 1923 and the second nine finished in spring 1924. The current scorecard plays to par 71 and measures 6,340 yards from the Blue tees, 5,926 from White, 5,024 from Green and 4,703 from Red. Sandy Burr has remained a comparatively accessible example of Ross architecture in the Boston area rather than becoming a fully private club.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,340 yards. Designed by Donald Ross, the course originally opened in 1923. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Function Rooms.
Gus White began the effort to organize the club in the summer of 1921. After a four-month site search, the Dwight and Beebe farms in Wayland were selected. Donald Ross designed the course, with the first nine completed in June 1923 and the second nine finished the following spring.
Sandy Burr developed a longstanding inner-club competition structure while continuing to admit public daily-fee play, creating a hybrid model rather than a conventional fully private country club.
The course remains an accessible Ross layout west of Boston and supports public tee times, organized inner-club competition, instruction and clubhouse functions.
