Sembawang Country Club is an 18-hole golf club at 249 Sembawang Road in northern Singapore. The club was founded in 1967 by British Marines stationed at Dieppe Barracks, and Singapore's first prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew, formally opened the original nine-hole course on 7 January 1968. The Singapore Armed Forces expanded it to 18 holes in 1977.
A major redevelopment beginning in 2010 produced a new clubhouse and rebuilt golf facilities, with the first nine reopening in 2011 and the full 18-hole course following in 2012. The club's full 18 holes reopened again on 8 August 2026 following further works. Published pre-2026 scorecard data lists a par-72 Black course of 6,337 yards rated 73.1/138, but the recent reopening means those hole details should be checked against a new official card before being considered definitive.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 5,795m (6,337 yards), course rating 73.1 and slope rating 138. The course originally opened in 1968. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving range, Clubhouse, Practice green, Restaurant, Banquet facilities, Terrace, Junior Membership.
Sembawang Country Club began in 1967 when British Marines stationed at Dieppe Barracks established the club. The original nine-hole course lay within the British air base that operated as RAF Sembawang and the Royal Naval Air Station HMS Simbang. Lee Kuan Yew officially opened the course on 7 January 1968.
After British withdrawal in 1971, the New Zealand Southeast Asia Force took over the golf club under the ANZUK arrangements. Plans to expand to 18 holes were considered in 1975 but initially shelved for financial reasons. The Singapore Armed Forces completed the 18-hole expansion in 1977 and formally assumed control in the early 1980s.
The club underwent clubhouse refurbishment in 1990 and a major redevelopment from 2010, with a new clubhouse and first nine opening in 2011 and the full 18 holes reopening in 2012. Further course works led to another full-course reopening on 8 August 2026.
The club's history is closely connected with Singapore's military institutions and military diplomacy, having served personnel from British, New Zealand and Singapore forces across different periods.
Sembawang operates from 249 Sembawang Road with an 18-hole course, driving range, clubhouse and food-and-beverage and event facilities. The club publishes separate member, guest and visitor fee structures.
