About St Enodoc Golf Club - Holywell Course

The Holywell Course is St Enodoc Golf Club's shorter 18-hole layout at Rock in Cornwall. It is separate from the club's better-known Church Course. The club describes Holywell as comprising nine par-3 holes and nine par-4 holes, producing a par of 63 and a total distance a little over 4,000 yards.

Golf has been played on the land north of the present clubhouse for more than 130 years. Some holes formed parts of earlier layouts, including holes associated with James Braid's work at St Enodoc, while the purchase of additional land in 1982 enabled holes 5 through 12 to be added and Holywell to become a full 18-hole course. The club publishes separate White and Red hole-by-hole scorecards for Holywell.

The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Pro shop, Putting green.

Origins

Golf on the ground north of St Enodoc's present clubhouse predates the modern Holywell layout by well over a century. At different periods those holes belonged either to the main course or to a shorter nine-hole layout, and the club notes that some were associated with the original Braid design.

Did You Know?
Half of Holywell's 18 holes are par 3s.

Development

A major step came when St Enodoc acquired additional land in 1982. New holes numbered 5 through 12 were added, allowing the shorter course to become a complete 18-hole layout. Subsequent refinements and additional bunkering produced the current Holywell configuration.

Today

Holywell operates as St Enodoc's accessible alternative to the Church Course. Visitors can book it independently and the club imposes no handicap-index restriction on Holywell.
