St Helen's Bay Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course near Rosslare Harbour in County Wexford. The present course opened in 1993 after Larry and Mari Byrne developed farmland and an earlier par-three course into a full championship layout. Irish Ryder Cup player Philip Walton designed the course.
Its character changes during the round: most holes occupy parkland terrain, while the closing section reaches more exposed coastal ground overlooking the Irish Sea. The longest published Blue course measures 6,690 yards; White and Yellow men's tees measure 6,446 and 5,994 yards, while the Red women's course is 5,483 yards and par 74. The course is part of a golf resort but operates as a member-managed club that welcomes visitors.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,690 yards. Designed by Philip Walton, the course originally opened in 1993. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Pro shop, Restaurant, Clubhouse bar, Changing rooms, Golf club hire, Electric trolley hire, Golf buggy hire.
Larry and Mari Byrne pursued the development of a full golf course at St Helen's Bay during the early 1990s. The land had previously included a par-three course run by the Rackard family. Philip Walton was engaged to design the new 18-hole layout, which opened in 1993 as part of a combined golf and holiday-home development.
Walton's routing combines inland parkland with more exposed coastal terrain. The character changes particularly over the closing holes, where the course approaches the Irish Sea and is more directly affected by coastal conditions.
The company owning the course entered receivership in 2013, placing its future in doubt. Members, holiday-home owners and other supporters responded by forming Bing Bay Holdings plc and raising capital to acquire the golf course, clubhouse and associated facilities. The purchase was completed in 2014.
Bing Bay Holdings owns the facility while St Helen's Bay Golf Club operates as a member-managed equal-rights club. Visitors and groups continue to be welcomed.
