The Grove is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course at Chandler's Cross in Hertfordshire, designed by Kyle Phillips and opened in 2003. Phillips' own course portfolio records the original layout at 7,120 yards. Unlike many resort courses, golf is open to non-residents and no club membership or handicap is required to book.
The course gained international tournament exposure when Tiger Woods won the 2006 WGC-American Express Championship there, and it later hosted the 2016 British Masters. The estate's golf facilities now include a TrackMan range, putting and short-game facilities, professional tuition and The Kingdom at The Grove, a TaylorMade fitting centre opened in 2026. The surrounding property is a hotel, spa and dining resort, but golf can be booked independently.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 7,120 yards. Designed by Kyle Phillips, the course originally opened in 2003. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Short Game Area, Golf Lessons, Club Fitting, Restaurant, Bar, Hotel, and 1 more.
The Grove estate was restored during the late 1990s and early 2000s before reopening as a hotel and golf resort in 2003. Kyle Phillips was commissioned to create the 18-hole course within the historic 300-acre property.
Phillips has described working around mature trees, historic-preservation constraints and existing estate features while still creating the long visual runs and scale required for modern championship golf. The result mixes open parkland with mature woodland rather than imitating a traditional links.
The course subsequently underwent a substantial bunker-renovation program in consultation with Phillips and shaping specialist Theo Travis. In 2026 the golf operation expanded again with The Kingdom at The Grove, TaylorMade's first Kingdom fitting facility outside the United States.
The course's profile rose sharply with the 2006 WGC-American Express Championship and again with the 2016 British Masters. The Grove has since appeared in numerous resort and modern-course rankings and won Resort Course of the Year at the Golf Course Awards in 2025.
Golf remains open to the public without a membership or handicap requirement and operates alongside the hotel's accommodation, dining and spa businesses.
