The Lakes is the newer of Mount Edgecombe Country Club's two 18-hole layouts. It was conceived during the transformation of former sugar-cane land into a residential golf estate in the 1990s and was designed by Daysen, De Villiers & Van der Merwe. The course is par 72 and the club publishes four principal lengths: Yellow at approximately 6,024 metres, White at 5,732 metres, Blue at 5,350 metres and Red at 5,036 metres.
The White tees carry a published course rating of 70.4 and slope of 121. Pani Dam and associated wetlands are central features of the routing. Matkovich Design is credited with a later upgrade.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,024m (6,590 yards), course rating 70.4 and slope rating 121. Designed by Daysen, De Villiers & Van der Merwe, the course originally opened in 1990. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Restaurant, Bar, Bistro, Café, Terrace, Senior Membership, Country Membership.
The Lakes was conceived as the second course during Mount Edgecombe's transition from sugar-estate land to a residential golf-estate community in the 1990s.
Daysen, De Villiers & Van der Merwe routed the course around Pani Dam and wetlands, creating a markedly different identity from the older tree-lined Woods course.
Matkovich Design is credited with a later upgrade of the course.
