The Ledges Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 public course in York, Maine, designed by William Bradley "Brad" Booth and opened in 1999. From the Black tees it measures 6,981 yards with a course rating of 73.9 and slope of 138. The routing crosses heavily wooded New England terrain marked by exposed granite ledges, substantial elevation changes and elevated tees and greens.
Booth used those changes in level as a central part of the design, while the club identifies fast, undulating greens as another defining feature. The scorecard includes four par fives, four par threes and ten par fours, with the 618-yard par-5 18th the longest hole. The club was developed by builder Pat Rocheleau with partners Tom Donegan and Ken Sullivan after a seven-year planning and construction process that required extensive work through the property's rock ledges.

The Ledges grew from a project led by builder Pat Rocheleau with partners Tom Donegan and Ken Sullivan. Their aim was to create a public-access golf course in York that could also support a membership programme, rather than following a conventional private-club model. The site presented unusual construction problems because of its exposed granite formations and strong changes in elevation.
According to the club's own account, planning, approvals and construction stretched across seven years and required extensive blasting before the course opened in 1999. Superintendent Joe Grady was involved during construction and grow-in and has remained associated with the course since that formative period.
Architect William Bradley "Brad" Booth treated the rock formations and elevation changes as design material rather than attempting to flatten the property. The club credits him with placing tees and greens on elevated sites that use the natural rise and fall of the terrain. The result is a routing with pronounced uphill and downhill shots, tight landing areas and large, strongly contoured putting surfaces.
Golf Digest similarly describes the course in terms of its hillside movement, rock outcroppings, downhill tee shots and multi-tiered greens. At 6,981 yards from the Black tees, the course has enough length for competitive golf, but its difficulty comes as much from position, elevation and the greens as from raw distance.
The fundamental Booth routing remains the basis of the course today. The club has continued to operate independently and combines public tee-time access with membership privileges. Its golf operation has expanded around professional instruction, online reservations and a clubhouse that includes food service, a full bar and retail.
The membership structure gives members earlier booking access than the public while leaving the course available for daily-fee play. Current public tee times may be booked seven days ahead, compared with ten days for members.
Recognition followed relatively quickly after the 1999 opening. Golf Digest's historical Best in State listings placed The Ledges inside Maine's top five in 2003 and later ranked it ninth or tenth during several ranking cycles. The club says it has been featured by both Golfweek and Golf Digest among public courses to play.
S. Amateur Qualifier for 12 consecutive years, while Golf Digest notes that the course has also staged Monday qualifying for Maine's Korn Ferry Tour tournament.

Its Black tees measure 6,981 yards at par 72 with a 73.9 course rating and 138 slope, while shorter tees reduce the course to below 5,000 yards. The clubhouse includes a restaurant, full-service bar, outdoor deck and pro shop, and the club provides practice amenities and golf instruction.
