The Lake Course is one of two 18-hole championship layouts at the Vale Resort in the Vale of Glamorgan. It plays to par 72 and measures 6,436 yards in the resort's current published course information. Water is the defining feature of the routing: the dedicated Lake Course page states that water is involved on 12 of the 18 holes, while another current resort golf page says 13, so the discrepancy is retained rather than forcing a single figure.
The course begins unusually with a par three near the hotel and was built before the resort's hotel itself. The Vale's other course is the longer Wales National, and its dimensions and history should not be merged with the Lake Course. Resort golf facilities include a driving range, pro shop, clubhouse, coaching, buggy hire and dining.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 5,885m (6,436 yards). It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Full Membership, Junior Membership, Corporate Membership, Restaurant, Bar, Driving range, Pro shop, Clubhouse, and 3 more.
The Lake Course was the first major golf element developed at the Vale property, preceding construction of the hotel. It subsequently became one half of a 36-hole resort golf operation.
Water is the principal recurring strategic feature, appearing on the majority of holes. The routing begins with a par three in close proximity to the hotel rather than a conventional opening par four.
The later development of the Wales National Course gave the Vale two contrasting championship layouts. The Lake remained the shorter of the pair at 6,436 yards.
The Lake Course operates as an 18-hole, par-72 visitor and resort course with online tee-time booking, supported by a driving range, pro shop, coaching and clubhouse facilities.
