Timberwolf Golf Club is a championship golf course in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, offering one of Northern Ontario’s most distinctive golfing experiences. Designed by renowned Canadian golf course architect Thomas McBroom, the expansive layout makes exceptional use of the region’s rugged natural landscape, weaving through forests of white birch, wetlands, streams and exposed rock formations. The property is unusually spacious, allowing individual holes to feel remarkably secluded and giving golfers the sense of playing through the Northern Ontario wilderness rather than a conventional suburban golf development.
McBroom’s design incorporates generous teeing areas and large, varied greens while using the natural terrain to create strategic challenges throughout the round. Tee decks average around 7,000 square feet, while greens range from approximately 5,500 to 9,000 square feet. The combination of scale, elevation, water, rock and woodland creates considerable visual variety and allows the course to accommodate golfers of different abilities without sacrificing its championship character.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,424m (7,026 yards), course rating 74.4 and slope rating 137. Designed by Thomas McBroom, the course originally opened in 2000. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Putting greens, Practice bunkers, Golf academy, Golf lessons, Pro shop, Golf cart rental, Restaurant, and 1 more.
Timberwolf was created as a championship-scale golf property in Greater Sudbury, with Thomas McBroom commissioned to route the course through a very large tract of Northern Ontario terrain.
McBroom used extensive separation between holes and the site's rock, water, wetlands and birch forest to preserve a strong sense of the existing landscape. Multiple large tee decks vary playing angles, while greens range from about 5,500 to 9,000 square feet.
The course quickly acquired a tournament profile and received recognition as Golf Digest's Best New Canadian Course for 2000. It subsequently hosted national and provincial championships across junior, amateur and senior professional golf.
Timberwolf is part of the Golf Sudbury group and remains open to public tee-time play with extensive practice and instruction facilities.
