TPC Tampa Bay is an 18-hole, par-71 daily-fee course in Lutz, Florida. Built by the PGA TOUR in 1991, it was designed by Bobby Weed with Chi Chi Rodriguez serving as PGA TOUR player consultant. The championship TPC tees measure 6,898 yards and carry a 74.2 course rating and 140 slope on the club's published scorecard.
Weed routed the course through an existing landscape of wetlands, cypress heads, lagoons and mature trees rather than treating the property as a blank site. The course subsequently became a long-running PGA TOUR Champions venue, hosting an event for 21 consecutive years under several tournament names. Its tournament history includes the GTE Suncoast Classic, GTE Classic, Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am and Encompass Insurance Pro-Am.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,308m (6,898 yards), course rating 74.2 and slope rating 140. Designed by Bobby Weed, the course originally opened in 1991. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Practice Facility, Golf Instruction, Club Rentals, Golf Shop, Restaurant.
The PGA TOUR developed TPC Tampa Bay as part of its Tournament Players Club network, with Bobby Weed acting as chief architect and Chi Chi Rodriguez serving as player consultant. The course was built in 1991. Its routing was developed around the property's existing wetlands, cypress heads and lagoons rather than removing those features.
Weed's routing works around environmentally sensitive areas and uses the site's water, vegetation and irregular contours as integral parts of the course. Multiple teeing areas were incorporated so the same layout could accommodate tournament professionals and daily-fee golfers.
TPC Tampa Bay later became part of Heritage Golf Group while retaining its TPC identity. Its environmental management also led to designation as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
The course's most sustained national exposure came through PGA TOUR Champions competition. It hosted a Champions Tour event for 21 consecutive years and has also staged the circuit's Q-School Final Stage.
TPC Tampa Bay remains an 18-hole daily-fee and membership facility operated by Heritage Golf Group.
