Golf Course Architect
Bobby Weed (born April 13, 1955, in Irmo, South Carolina) launched his golf architecture career by converting his family’s bean field into the Weed Hill Driving Range as a teenager, sparking a lifelong passion for design. After college (Presbyterian College and Lake City Community College), he apprenticed under Pete Dye and began his professional journey as assistant superintendent at Amelia Island, before becoming superintendent at TPC Sawgrass and eventually the PGA TOUR’s in‑house Chief Designer from 1987 to 1994.
In 1994, Weed founded his own firm, Bobby Weed Golf Design, where he continues to apply a hands‑on, agronomy‑informed approach to design and renovation. His firm’s work emphasizes strategic playability, sustainability, and meticulous attention to detail inherited from his mentor.
His portfolio includes the design of TPC Summerlin (Las Vegas) and renovation of Brooksville Country Club’s back nine, among many other celebrated projects.
