The West Palm Beach club became the first golf property in what developed into the Trump Golf portfolio. Jim Fazio was commissioned to transform a flat South Florida site into a tournament-scale private club, with the Championship Course opening in 1999.
Fazio has described the project as an opportunity to create varied landforms from an essentially blank, flat site. More than three million cubic yards of earth were moved in nine months, producing hills and an elevation that reaches 58 feet above sea level. Streams, creeks, bunkering, trees and tropical planting were integrated into the routing.
The property ultimately grew to 27 holes, with the 18-hole Championship Course supplemented by an additional nine-hole course.
The Championship Course developed a tournament record early in its history, hosting an LPGA event eight times. Winners included Annika Sorenstam, Lorena Ochoa and Karrie Webb. The club later hosted the 2008 Maybach Cup and the 2023 Aramco Team Series.
