Vidago Palace Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course at Vidago Palace in northern Portugal. Golf at the property dates to 1936, when Mackenzie Ross designed the original nine-hole course. Cameron & Powell subsequently redesigned and expanded it, with the present 18-hole layout inaugurated in 2010.
The rebuilt course measures 6,308 metres from the white tees, with additional published distances of 5,903 metres from yellow, 5,454 metres from blue and 4,797 metres from red. The reconstruction used USGA specifications for greens and tees while retaining mature trees and elements of the earlier course. The opening and closing holes occupy the historic park around Vidago Palace, while much of the expanded routing extends through the Oura valley.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,308m. Designed by MacKenzie Ross, the course originally opened in 1936. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Golf Academy, Pro Shop, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Bar, and 1 more.
Golf was introduced to the Vidago Palace estate in 1936 through a nine-hole course designed by Mackenzie Ross.
The modern project retained parts of Ross's course and many mature trees while extending the routing into the Oura valley. Local stone was used for tee retaining walls and the reconstructed greens and tees were built to USGA specifications.
Cameron & Powell completely remodelled and expanded the course, converting elements of the original nine and adding new holes to produce the current 18-hole, par-72 layout. The renewed course was inaugurated in 2010.
The course operates as the golf component of Vidago Palace Hotel, with a clubhouse, restaurant, practice facilities, academy and equipment hire.
