William Stephen Flynn (1890–1944/45) emerged from Milton, Massachusetts, becoming a leading figure in America’s "Philadelphia School" of golf‑course design. S.
Flynn’s work is best known for its strategic routing that closely follows natural landforms, thoughtful use of mature trees, and subtle, challenging greens. —the latter built between 1921 and 1926 in the parkland style, integrating existing farmhouses and dramatic topography to create a public classic largely intact to this day.
