About Abu Dhabi Golf Course

Abu Dhabi Golf Club's principal layout is the National Course, an 18-hole, par-72 championship course measuring 7,600 yards from the back tees. Peter Harradine designed the course in 1998 and the club opened to golfers in February 2000. The National has been the long-term tournament course at the club, including hosting 16 consecutive editions of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Its most recognizable built feature is the falcon-shaped clubhouse overlooking the course. The official club describes a layout incorporating lakes, bunkering, doglegs and risk-reward decisions. The back nine is also equipped for night golf: the club lists the illuminated nine at 3,696 yards and par 36.

The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,949m (7,600 yards). Designed by Peter Harradine, the course originally opened in 2000. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Golf Academy, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Bar, Café.

Origins

Peter Harradine designed the National Course in 1998 as a championship layout for Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The club opened its doors in February 2000, pairing the course with the distinctive falcon-shaped clubhouse that became its architectural landmark.

Did You Know?
The clubhouse was built in the form of a falcon with its wings outstretched.

Design Philosophy

The National was built as a long championship test, reaching 7,600 yards. Its routing uses water, bunkering, doglegs and risk-reward decisions rather than relying on length alone.

Development

A major later development was the installation of floodlighting on the back nine. The illuminated nine measures 3,696 yards and allows evening play.

Recognition

The National Course became internationally associated with professional tournament golf through 16 consecutive editions of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Today

The National remains the club's main 18-hole championship course, with GPS-equipped carts and a floodlit back nine.
