Black Desert Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course in Ivins, Utah, routed through black basalt lava fields. It was the final course design associated with Tom Weiskopf. Weiskopf established the routing and continued work during cancer treatment, while longtime design partner Phil Smith carried much of the project through construction after Weiskopf's health deteriorated.
The course opened in 2023. Its broad fairways are framed by lava rather than conventional rough, creating sharp penalties for shots that leave the maintained playing corridors. Black Desert quickly became a professional-tournament venue: the PGA Tour staged its inaugural Black Desert Championship there in October 2024, and the LPGA Tour followed with the inaugural Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion in May 2025.
The course is an 18-hole desert golf course. Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Phil Smith, the course originally opened in 2023. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Practice Facility, Golf Shop, Dining, Accommodation.
Tom Weiskopf laid out the course through the basalt terrain at Black Desert, with longtime collaborator Phil Smith deeply involved in bringing the design to completion.
Weiskopf died in August 2022 before completion. Smith continued the work and the course opened in 2023.
The course rapidly became a professional venue, hosting the PGA Tour in 2024 and the LPGA Tour in 2025.
Black Desert operates as the golf centerpiece of Black Desert Resort in Ivins.
