About Bramshaw Golf Course

Bramshaw Golf Club operates two distinct 18-hole courses in Hampshire's New Forest: the Forest Course and the Manor Course. The Forest traces its origins to about 1865, when landowner Philip de Crespigny created golf holes partly in his garden at Roundhill and partly on Brook Common. Bramshaw Golf Club was formally established with John Jeffreys in 1880.

The Forest later expanded to 18 holes and remains an open, heathland-style course played across New Forest ground. The contrasting Manor Course is a tree-lined parkland layout that opened in 1971 after club professional Wilf Wiltshire suggested that land behind the Bell Inn would be better used for a new course than merely as a driving range. Both courses accept visitors and have separately published green fees.

The course is a 36-hole golf course. Designed by Philip de Crespigny, the course originally opened in 1880. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Restaurant, Bar, Practice Facilities, Accommodation.

Origins

Golf at Bramshaw predates the club itself. Philip de Crespigny created a course around 1865 for his weekend guests, using land at Roundhill and Brook Common. He and fellow landowner John Jeffreys established Bramshaw Golf Club in 1880.

The Forest Course was extended to 18 holes during the first decade of the twentieth century.

Did You Know?
During the 1890s Bramshaw temporarily combined with a nine-hole club at Lyndhurst, creating a club whose two nines were more than five miles apart.

Development

A second course emerged from a 1960s discussion about building a driving range behind the Bell Inn. Professional Wilf Wiltshire instead suggested an additional 18-hole course. The Manor Course opened in 1971.

Bramshaw moved to its present clubhouse in 1983. In August 2021 the club and Bell Inn were acquired by Stellar Asset Management in partnership with Ben Blackburn Golf.

Today

Bramshaw operates the open Forest Course and tree-lined Manor Course as two separate 18-hole layouts.
