Catalina Club is a 27-hole public-access parkland golf facility at 154 Beach Road in Batemans Bay, New South Wales. The club traces its golf history to 1920, when Percy Bill made land known as Bill's Paddock available for golf and Batemans Bay Golf Club was established. Early golf was rudimentary: historical club material records a five-hole course with oiled sand greens before brothers Athol and Claude Manns helped clear and develop enough land for a full 18-hole course with turf greens.
Catalina Country Club was established under that name in 1956, and the course ultimately expanded to 27 holes during the late twentieth century. Golf NSW publishes a 27-hole scorecard and identifies Catalina as open to social golf seven days a week. The club has significant tournament history: Greg Norman earned his first tournament prize money at Catalina during the 1974 South Coast Open.
The course is a 27-hole parkland golf course. The course originally opened in 1920. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf Shop, Putting Green, Restaurant, Bistro, Café, Bar, Dining, Membership.
Golf on the Catalina site began in 1920, when Percy Bill made part of the former racecourse property known as Bill's Paddock available to the community for golf. Batemans Bay Golf Club developed there, initially on a very small layout. Club records describe an early five-hole course with oiled sand greens.
Athol and Claude Manns were central to the physical growth of the course. During the 1950s they used heavy logging equipment to clear additional ground, helping transform the rudimentary layout toward an 18-hole course with turf greens. Catalina Country Club was established in 1956, taking its name from the Catalina flying boats associated with Batemans Bay.
By the 1990s the golf operation had grown to 27 holes. More than 400 trees were planted around the course in 2002 as part of vegetation and maintenance work.
Catalina has hosted numerous regional and state golf events. Its tournament history includes the South Coast Open, where a young Greg Norman earned his first tournament purse in 1974. The club continues to host junior, veteran, women's and open events.
Catalina operates a 27-hole public-access golf complex in Batemans Bay. A current masterplan proposes substantial course and clubhouse redevelopment, including construction of a 20-bay driving range and further golf-course work.
