Origins

The present club began in 1901 with a six-hole course at Upton Hall. It moved to Bache Hall in 1902, then sought a new home when that estate was offered for sale. Brewers Hall Farm at Curzon Park was purchased and a new course was operating a full programme by 1913.

Did You Know?
The R&A once congratulated the club on a centenary in 1991 before research established that the 1891 Chester Golf Club was a separate organization.

Development

A.F.G. Jiggens substantially altered the course from 1963, improving drainage, repositioning bunkers, adding mounding and modifying greens. Tree planting followed, culminating in approximately 2,000 trees added over a decade from 1987.

Today

Chester remains an 18-hole par-71 club course on two levels within a loop of the River Dee.
