Real Club Valderrama is a private 18-hole golf club in Sotogrande, San Roque, Spain, with limited visitor tee times. The main course is a par 71 designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Its longest published Pro configuration measures 6,390 metres and carries a 76.1 course rating and 147 slope; several shorter rated sets are also maintained.
The property also has a separate nine-hole par-3 course and practice areas including a driving range, chipping area and putting green. The championship course began in 1974 as Sotogrande New, was renamed Las Aves in 1981 and was acquired by Jaime Ortiz-Patiño in 1984. Jones subsequently returned to remodel his original work before the property became Valderrama.

The course dates to 1974, when Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed a new layout in Sotogrande known initially as Sotogrande New. It was renamed Las Aves in 1981.
Jaime Ortiz-Patiño acquired the property in 1984 with ambitions to turn it into an international championship venue.
Ortiz-Patiño brought Robert Trent Jones back to remodel his own earlier work. The resulting routing was prepared for elite tournament golf while retaining the mature cork oaks and other established vegetation that define the property.
Following the mid-1980s redevelopment and adoption of the Valderrama identity, the club became a regular venue for major professional events. Its tournament profile expanded dramatically with the Volvo Masters and culminated in the 1997 Ryder Cup, the first Ryder Cup staged in continental Europe.
Valderrama's tournament history and long-standing high placement in European course rankings have made it one of continental Europe's most internationally recognised golf venues.
Real Club Valderrama remains private but allocates limited tee times to visitors. The property contains the 18-hole championship course, a nine-hole par-3 course and extensive practice facilities.
