About Doña Julia

Doña Julia Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 course in Casares on the western Costa del Sol. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation and Andalusian federation credit Spanish professional Antonio García Garrido with the design and identify 2005 as the course's founding/design year. The longest widely published scorecard measures 6,021 metres from the White tees, with a 72.3 course rating and 131 slope in a published rating table.

The routing is strongly shaped by elevation: the first seven holes climb toward the eighth tee, the highest point on the property, before the remaining holes return through a different section of the site.

The course is an 18-hole mountain golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,021m (6,585 yards), course rating 72.3 and slope rating 131. Designed by Antonio García Garrido, the course originally opened in 2005. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Putting Area, Chipping Area, Driving Range, Club Hire, Buggy Hire, Restaurant, and 2 more.

Origins

Doña Julia was designed by Antonio García Garrido in 2005 on elevated land in the municipality of Casares between the Mediterranean and the surrounding mountains.

Did You Know?
The par-5 eighth reaches 612 metres from the longest published White tees.

Design Philosophy

The course was built to USGA standards for tees, greens, bunkers and drainage. Garrido used broad fairways and unusually large greens while routing the opening seven holes uphill toward the property's highest point at the eighth tee.

Development

The course has remained an 18-hole par-71 layout rather than being expanded into multiple courses.

Today

Doña Julia operates as a public-access course with a golf shop, instruction, practice facilities, buggy and club rental, restaurant and changing facilities.
