W. Hawtree. The Real Federación Española de Golf records the club's foundation in 1969, while the club's own history describes an unofficial presentation of the completed course in March 1971 attended by Spanish golf and public officials together with Hawtree.
The championship routing measures 6,044 metres from its longest published markers. Its two nines have contrasting terrain: the opening nine occupies a comparatively level valley while the second nine climbs onto the side of a mountain. The Spanish federation and club both identify unusually large greens as an important characteristic of the layout, with putting distances exceeding 40 metres possible on some greens.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,044m (6,610 yards). Designed by Fred Hawtree, the course originally opened in 1971. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Clubhouse, Pro Shop.
The Spanish golf federation gives 1969 as the club's foundation year. F.W. Hawtree was engaged to design the 18-hole course and remained involved through construction.
Hawtree created two contrasting halves: the first nine follows a relatively flat valley while the second occupies the side of a mountain. Large putting surfaces became one of the course's defining architectural features.
An unofficial presentation of the course took place in March 1971 with Hawtree and senior Spanish golf officials among those attending.
Vallromanes remains an 18-hole par-72 club near Barcelona with the original Hawtree routing at the core of the property.
