Cotswold Downs Golf Estate is an 18-hole championship parkland course in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal. Designed by Peter Matkovich and built to USGA specifications, it opened in 2006 as the golf centrepiece of the residential estate. The course uses the site's rolling terrain, valleys, streams and natural water features, with bent-grass putting surfaces.
GolfRSA rating data lists the longest Yellow course at 7,225 metres with a course rating of 75.6 and slope of 143. The White men's course is 6,720 metres at 72.9/142, Blue is 5,875 metres at 68.9/138, and Red is 5,295 metres, with separate men's and women's ratings. Visitors are welcomed and the club publishes a full 2026/27 visitor green-fee schedule.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 7,225m (7,902 yards), course rating 75.6 and slope rating 143. Designed by Peter Matkovich, the course originally opened in 2006. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Putting green, Pitching green, Chipping green, Practice bunker, Pro shop, Golf carts, Clubhouse, and 2 more.
Development of Cotswold Downs began in the mid-2000s as a low-density residential golf and lifestyle estate outside Hillcrest. Peter Matkovich was commissioned to create its championship golf course, which opened in November 2006.
Matkovich routed the course across the property's rolling hills, valleys and streams. The official estate describes a parkland course built to USGA specifications, with bent-grass greens and natural water features integrated into the routing.
The course gained early recognition for conditioning, including a 2008 Compleat Golfer accolade as KwaZulu-Natal's best-conditioned course. Its championship tees also carry a demanding GolfRSA rating of 75.6 and slope of 143.
Cotswold Downs remains the central sporting facility of the residential estate while welcoming outside golfers. The golf operation includes extensive practice facilities, a pro shop and clubhouse.
