About Emerald Lakes Golf Club

Emerald Lakes Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 public course in Carrara on the Gold Coast. The present layout is the result of a 2005 redesign by Australian golf-course architect Graham Marsh. Lakes are a major element of the routing, while the supporting golf facilities include a driving range, practice facility, coaching centre, pro shop and an 18-hole mini-golf course.

The clubhouse provides restaurant and bar facilities. Emerald Lakes forms part of the Emerald Lakes residential community and is approximately seven kilometres from Surfers Paradise. Its earlier incarnation was Carrara Golf Club; after a change of ownership and investment in the property, the course was redeveloped as Emerald Lakes.

The course is an 18-hole golf course. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Practice Facility, Coaching Centre, Pro Shop, Mini Golf, Putting Green, Club Hire, Push Buggy Hire, and 3 more.

Origins

The property began as Carrara Golf Club during the Gold Coast golf-course development period of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Contemporary retrospective coverage describes the original course as a modest development. Following a sale in 1990, substantial investment was directed into improving the property and it became Emerald Lakes Golf Club.

Design Philosophy

Graham Marsh Golf Design was commissioned to reshape the course into a par-72 layout. The redesign introduced broader fairways and larger, more dynamic greens while using the property's stands of trees and numerous lakes as major elements of the routing.

Development

The club's own history dates Graham Marsh's redesign to 2005. The wider facility subsequently developed a substantial practice operation including a driving range, coaching centre and mini golf.

Recognition

Emerald Lakes entered professional tournament golf as the venue for the Queensland PGA Championship in 2004.

Today

Emerald Lakes operates as an 18-hole, par-72 public golf course within the Emerald Lakes residential community at Carrara. Golf facilities include the course, driving range, practice facility, coaching centre, pro shop and mini golf, supported by clubhouse dining and bar facilities.
