Origins

The club began as Cannington Park Golf Club, whose nine-hole, roughly 2,200-yard course opened on Easter Monday 1906. The course closed during the First World War when the land was used for military mule grazing. Expansion constraints eventually led the club to seek another site, and Enmore Park was selected.

Did You Know?
The original Cannington Park course used horse-drawn grass cutters, with leather shoes fitted to the horses to protect the greens.

Development

The new Enmore Park nine-hole course was officially opened on 24 September 1932. Plans to expand were interrupted by the Second World War and subsequent financial pressures. Decades later Fred Hawtree & Co.

designed a new 18-hole layout measuring 6,431 yards. It opened for play on 16 May 1972, followed by an official opening ceremony on 10 June.

Recognition

The club has hosted notable exhibition and entertainment events, including a 1982 celebrity tournament attended by more than 2,000 spectators and featuring sports and entertainment figures including Ian Botham and Kevin Keegan.

Today
