About Farrington Park Golf & Country Club

The former Farrington Park Golf & Country Club site at Marsh Lane, Farrington Gurney is now operated as Mad Swans in the Mendips. Its current principal golf course is a 12-hole layout designed by Mackenzie & Ebert, replacing the database's older representation of Farrington Park as a par-27 course. Mad Swans describes the course as two loops of six holes and allows players to book six or 12 holes, with other packages offering longer play.

The new routing forms part of a broader redevelopment of the former Farrington Park property. Historically, Farrington Park contained the 18-hole, par-72 Duchy Course, opened in 1995, together with the nine-hole par-27 Manor Course. Those historical layouts should not be treated as the scorecard for the current facility.

The course is a 12-hole golf course. Designed by Mackenzie & Ebert and Jonathan Gaunt, the course originally opened in 2026. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Golf Lessons, Golf Shop, Putting Course, Golf Buggy Hire, Restaurant, Bar, Accommodation.

Origins

Farrington Park's earlier golf operation included the 18-hole Duchy Course and nine-hole Manor Course. The Duchy opened in 1995 as a par-72 course, while the shorter Manor was a par-27 nine-hole layout. These formed the established golf offering for decades.

Did You Know?
The current facility uses two loops of six holes rather than the traditional 18-hole format.

Design Philosophy

The redevelopment abandoned the conventional 18-hole-only model. Mackenzie & Ebert designed a 12-hole course arranged as two six-hole loops, with multiple teeing options and an emphasis on fitting a complete round into less time while retaining full-length golf architecture.

Development

The Farrington Park property underwent a major redevelopment and rebranding as Mad Swans in the Mendips. Planning documents described changes affecting portions of the previous nine-hole course as well as broader leisure and accommodation works. By 2026 the new 12-hole course was open and the old Farrington Park website was directing golfers to Mad Swans for current tee times.

Today

Mad Swans in the Mendips now operates the Marsh Lane site with the 12-hole course, a golf range/Swing Barn, putting, other sports, food and beverage and accommodation. The former Duchy and Manor layouts should be treated as historical rather than current course records.
