Garfield Golf Club is an 18-hole community golf club at Garfield in West Gippsland, Victoria. The club itself dates to March 1929, although its current course lineage begins later. Garfield moved to Thirteen Mile Road in 1947, initially as a nine-hole layout.
After purchasing additional land in 1964, the club commissioned professional golfer George Naismith to design a new course, which opened in 1965. Grass greens replaced sand-scrape greens in 1968. Further land was acquired in 1989, allowing Garfield to expand to 18 holes; the full course officially opened on April 6, 1991.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 69, 5,275m. Designed by George Naismith, the course originally opened in 1965. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Putting Green, Golf Cart Rental, Club Hire, Pull Buggy Hire, Golf Lessons, Clubhouse, Bar.
Garfield Golf Club formed in March 1929 and played its first match on June 1 that year at an original course on Mont Albert Road. The club moved to Thirteen Mile Road in 1947 and initially established nine holes there.
After acquiring additional land in 1964, Garfield commissioned George Naismith to design a new course that opened in 1965. Grass greens arrived in 1968. A new licensed clubhouse followed in 1981.
More land was purchased in 1989 and the expanded 18-hole course opened on April 6, 1991. From 1999, the fairways were progressively returfed with Legend couch over six years.
In 2000 members Ewen Costain and Paul Wheeler received Australian Sports Medals for services to golf.
Garfield operates as an accessible member and visitor club serving West Gippsland, with public booking available most days.
