Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, Georgia traces golf on its property to 1892, when nine rudimentary holes with sand greens were established. The club itself links its origins to a group led by J. Wyman Jones that sought to create a substantial recreation property as Thomasville developed as a winter destination for wealthy Northern families.
The golf course's defining architectural change came in 1929, when Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek transformed it into an 18-hole layout. Bob Cupp led a restoration in 2013. Glen Arven is a private club, and its sporting history extends beyond ordinary member golf: the Piney Woods Amateur began in 1919, and the club hosted professional events during the 1930s and 1940s featuring leading players of the era.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. Designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek, the course originally opened in 1892. It is open to members and their guests. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Clubhouse, Dining, Swimming Pool, Racquet Facilities.
