The property lies between the Rocky and Purcell mountain ranges, with the Columbia River bordering the course. Practice facilities include a grass-tee driving range and putting green, while the wider facility includes a pro shop, licensed restaurant, mini-golf and an RV park.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,241m (6,825 yards), course rating 72.2 and slope rating 134. Designed by Les Furber and Bill Newis, the course originally opened in 1986. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Putting green, Pro shop, Restaurant, Golf carts, Club rental, Mini golf, RV park.
Golden's organised golf history began in June 1935. A five-hole course opened south of town near Reflection Lake in 1942, and the club incorporated as a non-profit society in 1962. After an unsuccessful attempt to develop a new course during the 1970s, the community launched a major fundraising effort for the present property.
Bill Newis created the first nine within the Columbia Valley landscape, while Les Furber added a second nine a decade later. The routing was developed without residential development lining the holes and uses the river, creeks and forest as its principal setting.
The new nine opened to members in 1985 and officially in May 1986. Les Furber's second nine opened in 1996, producing the present 18-hole course.
Golden has received regional recognition from PGA of British Columbia and British Columbia golf publications, including Hidden Gem awards.
Golden remains a member-owned, not-for-profit club that welcomes public daily-fee play.
