About Gran Coyote Golf Club

Gran Coyote Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 Nick Price design at Corasol, north of central Playa del Carmen. The course was originally known as Grand Coral Golf Riviera Maya and opened in 2011. Origins

The course was created as the golf component of the development now known as Corasol, on the Caribbean side of the Riviera Maya north of central Playa del Carmen. Three-time major champion Nick Price was commissioned to design the 18-hole course, which entered play in 2011 under the Grand Coral Golf Riviera Maya name.

Design Philosophy

Price's course uses the relatively flat coastal site rather than dramatic elevation. Published descriptions emphasize broad playing corridors, strategic bunkering, water and coastal-jungle vegetation. Paspalum was selected as the principal turf, a practical choice for the warm coastal environment.

Development

The most important later change was the transition from the Grand Coral name to Gran Coyote Golf as the surrounding development evolved into Corasol. The underlying Nick Price course remained the central golf asset rather than being replaced by a different layout.

Today

Gran Coyote remains an 18-hole, par-71 visitor-accessible course within Corasol. Current facilities include a clubhouse, pro shop, golf academy, restaurant and rental equipment.
