Kingston Beach Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 course at 1 Channel Highway in Kingston, Tasmania. The present club organisation was established in November 1922 and its original nine-hole course officially opened on January 27, 1923. Robert Nettlefold laid out the course with John Irving, the professional at Launceston Golf Club, while W.
J. Eames supervised construction as the club's first greenkeeper and professional. The course expanded to 12 holes in 1924 and a full 18 by 1926.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 71, 5,836m, course rating 71 and slope rating 127. Designed by Robert Nettlefold and John Irving, the course originally opened in 1923. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Golf Carts, Pull Carts, Club Hire, Golf Lessons, Clubhouse, and 2 more.
Golf was first recorded above Kingston Beach in 1910, but that early club ceased around the First World War. Robert Nettlefold later revived organised golf, acquiring land along Browns River. Kingston Beach Golf Links Pty Ltd was established on November 23, 1922, and the course officially opened January 27, 1923.
Nettlefold and John Irving laid out the original nine holes. Jock Robertson later designed the bunkering after becoming professional and greenkeeper in 1926.
The course expanded to 12 holes in 1924 and 18 in 1926. Additional land purchased in 1946 allowed the 11th and 12th holes to be extended. The club has continued to use the steep escarpment as part of its routing, eventually installing the Inclinator between the 17th and 18th.
Kingston Beach produced numerous Tasmanian champions and hosted exhibition matches involving prominent golfers including Peter Thomson, Joe Kirkwood, Norman Von Nida, Bobby Locke and Lloyd Mangrum.
The club has nearly 800 members while maintaining public visitor access outside competition restrictions.
