Zagaleta's Old Course is an 18-hole, par-72 private course within the Zagaleta estate at Benahavís in Andalusia. The estate's official site credits Brad Benz with the original 1991 design and Marc Westenborg with a 2016 redesign. The course follows the undulating terrain of a former hunting estate and is reserved for members and residents rather than general public play.
The Spanish golf federation publishes a white-tee length of 6,010 metres and a complete hole-by-hole card. The estate describes a routing incorporating substantial changes in elevation, woodland, lakes and views towards Marbella and the Mediterranean. The Old Course is distinct from Zagaleta's separate New Course, so statistics from the two layouts should not be combined.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,010m (6,573 yards), course rating 79.1 and slope rating 141. The course was designed by Bradford Benz. It is a private members-only club. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Practice facilities.
Golf was incorporated into Zagaleta during the estate's early development. Brad Benz designed what residents now call the Old Course in 1991, routing it through the contours of the former hunting property above Marbella.
The routing uses substantial natural elevation changes and the wooded valley landscape. Lakes, bunkering and changes in level provide the principal strategic features, while the course remains integrated into the low-density residential estate.
Marc Westenborg redesigned the Old Course in 2016. The estate subsequently operates two separate private courses, the Old Course and New Course, which must be treated as distinct layouts.
The Old Course remains an 18-hole par-72 members-only layout for Zagaleta residents and members.
