Mollymook Golf Club operates two distinct golf properties on the New South Wales South Coast: the nine-hole Beachside course and the 18-hole Hilltop course. The club itself was established in 1952, although local golf history extends back to the early 1900s and the earlier 'Mollymoke Links' near Collers Beach. Beachside evolved during the 1960s after the club acquired the Golf Avenue property and converted its sand greens to grass.
Hilltop followed a separate development path. Land was offered to the club in 1963 on the condition that an 18-hole course be developed, and Ken McKay Snr was commissioned to design and supervise it. McKay designed Hilltop in 1970; the first nine opened in 1973 and the complete 18-hole course and clubhouse were officially opened in 1977.
Designed by Ken McKay Snr, the course originally opened in 1952. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Putting Green, Golf Lessons, Bistro, Bar.
Golf in the Mollymook area predates the present club. The club's history records an early-1900s course called Mollymoke Links near Collers Beach, where golfers played to sand greens. Mollymook Golf Club itself was established in 1952.
During the 1960s the club acquired the property now known as Beachside, established its nine-hole course and converted sand greens to grass. A separate expansion began after Sydney Raper Pty Ltd and Middle Harbour Investments offered Hilltop land in 1963 on condition that an 18-hole course be developed. Ken McKay Snr was commissioned to design and supervise the project.
He designed Hilltop in 1970, the first nine opened in 1973, and the complete 18-hole course and clubhouse officially opened in 1977.
The club continues to own and operate both Beachside at 72 Golf Avenue and Hilltop at 2 Clifford Close.
