Monte Rei's North Course is an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature design in Portugal's eastern Algarve. It opened for play in June 2007 and measures 6,567 metres, approximately 7,182 yards, from the tournament tees. The par-72 routing consists of eight par-4s, five par-3s and five par-5s.
Monte Rei undertook an extensive six-month enhancement programme with Nicklaus Design in 2026, restoring greens and bunkers, expanding teeing areas, improving practice facilities and upgrading infrastructure while retaining the original design. Golf Digest's current Portugal ranking places Monte Rei second in the country and 17th in Continental Europe.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,567m (7,182 yards). Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the course originally opened in 2007. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Pro Shop, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Bar, Accommodation.
Monte Rei's North Course was developed as a Jack Nicklaus Signature layout within a large Algarve estate and opened for play in June 2007.
The par-72 routing uses eight par-4s, five par-3s and five par-5s, with water incorporated into eleven holes and angled greens and bunkering creating alternative strategic lines.
In 2026 Monte Rei completed a six-month programme with Nicklaus Design that restored greens and bunkers, enlarged teeing areas, improved practice facilities and upgraded course infrastructure.
Golf Digest currently places Monte Rei second in its Portugal ranking and 17th among courses in Continental Europe.
The North Course remains Monte Rei's playable Jack Nicklaus Signature layout following its 2026 enhancement programme.
