Muirfield Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course at 58 Barclay Road in North Rocks, Sydney. The club was incorporated on 31 December 1953 and began operating under the Muirfield name in the early 1950s after previously being associated with Barclay Golf and Country Club and North Rocks Golf Club. Golf NSW lists the men's course at 5,644 metres and par 69, while the women's course measures 5,161 metres at par 72.
The layout crosses undulating, tree-lined ground and incorporates several large dams. Muirfield combines a members' club structure with extensive public access: booked public tee times are available seven days a week, subject to competition and social-play scheduling. Current fees effective 1 July 2026 cover nine- and 18-hole adult, senior, student, junior and member-guest play.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 69, 5,644m, course rating 70 and slope rating 120. Designed by James Wilcher, the course originally opened in 1954. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf Shop, Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Practice Bunker, Golf Lessons, Golf Carts, Club Hire, and 4 more.
The course developed on land owned by Sydney dentist Dr Walter Wearn, who envisioned a golf course on his North Rocks property for his wife Polly, herself an accomplished golfer. The property was first known as Barclay Golf and Country Club and later North Rocks Golf Club.
The established routing is a compact parkland course over undulating ground, with trees, bunkering and large dams providing much of the strategic defence. Heritage research attributes the design to James Wilcher.
Muirfield Golf Club was incorporated on 31 December 1953 and leased the property from the Wearn family from January 1954. Members eventually bought the golf course outright in 1988 for $2 million.
The club remains member-based but provides booked public golf seven days a week, alongside social-club access, competitions and clubhouse facilities.
