Origins

Chatswood Golf Club had operated on the site for decades, but its former 18-hole arrangement included 13 holes on club land and five on leased land. Safety issues, including crossing holes, and long-term financial pressures prompted a major redevelopment strategy.

Did You Know?
The redeveloped course replaced a former 18-hole layout in which the club owned only 13 holes and leased five.

Design Philosophy

Neil Crafter's redesign deliberately adopted a 12-hole format rather than trying to compress a conventional 18-hole course into the available land. The resulting layout mixes a single par five with par fours and short holes and is intended to provide a complete golf round in less time.

Development

Planning work for the reconfigured golf course began several years before construction, with the new layout becoming part of a broader redevelopment that also introduced retirement living, hospitality, fitness and event facilities. The 12-hole course officially opened on 31 May 2026.

Recognition

The project has been promoted nationally as Australia's first purpose-built 12-hole golf course.

Today

Newgreens operates seven days a week with public tee times and a wider hospitality and wellness precinct integrated with the golf club.
