Oaks North Golf Course is a 27-hole public facility in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego, made up of three separate par-30 nines (North, South, and East) that can be paired in different combinations for an 18-hole round. Designed by Ted Robinson and opened in 1962, the course is short by modern standards, with 18-hole combinations ranging from roughly 3,400 to 3,600 yards depending on which two nines are played, and no par-5 holes. It's walkable, generally plays in about three to three and a half hours, and is aimed at golfers who want a quicker, more forgiving round without sacrificing well-maintained greens.
Facilities include a driving range with targets, a putting green, a chipping area, a pro shop, PGA-instructed lessons, and a snack bar. The course is operated by JC Golf, which manages a group of public courses across Southern California.

Oaks North opened in 1962, the same period that developer AVCO Community Developers was building out Rancho Bernardo as a master-planned community in what had been rural North County San Diego. The course was laid out by Ted Robinson, a Southern California architect then early in a career that would eventually span more than 160 courses and earn him the nickname "King of Waterscapes" for his use of water features. Rather than a single 18-hole routing, Oaks North was built as three separate nine-hole courses — North, South, and East — a format suited to a shorter, higher-turnover facility rather than a championship test.
Each of the three nines plays to a par of 30, with no par-5 holes anywhere on the property; the routing relies on short-to-mid iron approaches and a mix of par-3s and par-4s rather than length. Depending on which two nines are paired for an 18-hole round, total yardage runs from about 3,400 to 3,600 yards. The compact scale keeps the course walkable and rounds fast, generally three to three and a half hours for 18 holes, which has made it a practice-oriented, high-repetition course for local golfers rather than a destination test.
Oaks North is now part of the JC Golf portfolio, a Southern California golf management company that operates public courses across San Diego, Riverside, and New Mexico. Its three nines are still offered in rotating North/South, North/East, and South/East pairings for 18-hole play, alongside practice facilities that include a driving range with target greens, a putting green, a chipping area, and PGA-staffed instruction.
