Golf Course Architect
Ted Robinson (Theodore G. Robinson) was a prominent American golf course architect born May 17, 1923, in Long Beach, California, and passed away March 2, 2008.
He earned his undergraduate degree at University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in planning (landscape architecture/land planning) from USC in 1948. , Hawaii, Mexico, and parts of Asia.
He was notable for pioneering the use of elaborate water features—earning him the nickname “King of Waterscapes”—and many of his courses emphasize playability, visual appeal, and client needs over pure championship difficulty. He joined the American Society of Golf Course Architects in the early 1970s, served as its president in 1983–84, and was elevated to Fellow in 1995.
