Old Quarry Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 course at Santa Barbara Estate in Curaçao. B. Dye, and it opened in 2010.
The current Black tees measure 7,006 yards with a 74.4 course rating and 132 slope. Dye routed the course through three distinct parts of the property: the Caribbean Sea shoreline, Spanish Water Bay and the foothills of Tafelberg. The site's natural elevation changes, exposed limestone, prevailing trade winds and water shape much of the strategy, while the course uses five main tee colours from Black through Red.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,406m (7,006 yards), course rating 74.4 and slope rating 132. Designed by Pete Dye and P.B. Dye, the course originally opened in 2010. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Grass Driving Range Tees, Covered Driving Range Bays, Putting Green, Short Game Practice Area, Chipping Area, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, and 7 more.
The landscape that gave Old Quarry its identity existed long before the first tee was built. Santa Barbara Plantation occupies a large tract on Curaçao's southeast coast between the Caribbean Sea and Spanish Water, with the limestone mass of Tafelberg rising inland. A quarry dating to the nineteenth century became such a defining element of the property that it supplied the eventual golf course with its name.
As Santa Barbara was redeveloped as a golf, marina and resort community, a championship course became one of its central recreation projects. B. Dye were commissioned to design the layout, and Old Quarry opened in 2010 alongside the broader resort development.
The Dyes used the site's existing contours rather than attempting to create an artificial landform. Old Quarry's official history describes the routing as moving through three different settings: Caribbean coastline, Spanish Water Bay and the base of Tafelberg. Elevation changes, exposed rock, prevailing trade winds and the changing direction of the holes create much of the strategic variation.
The official hole guide shows that this philosophy extends throughout the course: the opening holes are exposed to coastal winds, the middle section brings Spanish Water and mangroves into play, and later holes move through drier, rockier terrain beneath the mountain. Bunkering and angled greens add decisions without obscuring the underlying landscape.
Old Quarry has remained an 18-hole course since its 2010 opening, while the surrounding resort property has changed identity and operation over time. The former Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort is now associated with Sandals Royal Curaçao, but Old Quarry continues to operate with its own golf organisation, website, pro shop and public tee-time system within Santa Barbara Estate. Practice facilities and visitor services have expanded around the course, including a full-size driving range, covered mats, grass tees, dedicated chipping and putting areas, rental equipment and tournament services.
In April 2026 the operation also moved to a cashless payment system.
The course has developed a substantial profile within Caribbean golf. Leading Courses' verified-golfer rankings placed Old Quarry first among Curaçao courses for 2026, and the club received a Golfers' Choice award from the platform. In June 2026 Old Quarry announced that it had been voted No.
1 Best Caribbean Golf Course in USA Today 10Best. The course is also used for organised tournament golf, including the AT Curaçao Invitational, a 36-hole event, and the long-running Ronald McDonald House Curaçao Golf Classic.
Old Quarry remains open to visiting golfers and local players, with advance tee-time reservations recommended and walk-in play accepted when space permits. The current official scorecard lists five tee colours, headed by the 7,006-yard Black tees at par 72. Golf carts are mandatory.
The supporting operation includes the pro shop, driving range, putting and short-game areas, instruction, rental sets and Bar Boca restaurant. The course continues to occupy the same distinctive corridor between the Caribbean Sea, Spanish Water and Tafelberg that determined the original Dye routing.
