About Owl's Nest Resort Golf Course

Owl's Nest Resort Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course in Thornton, New Hampshire, in the Pemigewasset River Valley near the White Mountain National Forest. The course opened in 1998. , and Mark Mungeam is commonly identified as the principal architect associated with the project.

The original opening report described a 7,012-yard course with five sets of tees, while a modern New Hampshire golf directory lists 6,818 yards from the back tees and a slope of 133. Because those figures refer to different periods and no current official scorecard was located to reconcile them, no single length or slope has been forced into the structured course record. Owl's Nest now forms part of a larger resort with lodging, dining and extensive recreation, but the golf course remains available for public tee-time play rather than being restricted to resort guests or members.

The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. Designed by Mark Mungeam, the course originally opened in 1998. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Bar, Accommodation.

Design Philosophy

The design team worked with the valley setting and substantial natural topography. Multiple tee positions were incorporated from the outset to allow the par-72 course to be played at significantly different lengths.

Development

Since the golf course opened, Owl's Nest has expanded into a broader resort operation with lodging, dining and additional recreation.

Today

The golf course remains the resort's principal golf facility and accepts public tee-time play alongside membership and stay-and-play use.
