RNZAF Auckland Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 course inside the operational Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Whenuapai. Its military location directly determines access: the club states that it cannot accept drive-up green-fee golfers and that ordinary guests may play only when escorted by a current member. Public golfers can occasionally enter designated open competitions.
The relatively open airfield environment means the course has fewer trees than many Auckland layouts, and the club identifies wind as one of its principal playing challenges. Greens are comparatively small, placing additional emphasis on approach accuracy. The club is affiliated with Golf New Zealand and North Golf and fields teams in local pennant competitions.

The club was established primarily around service personnel at RNZAF Base Auckland and subsequently opened membership to approved civilians.
Civilian participation expanded over time, but security controls remain integral to membership and visitor access.
The volunteer-run club is affiliated with Golf New Zealand and North Golf. Ordinary visitors must be escorted by members, although public entry is possible for selected open competitions.
