About Rudding Park Golf Course

Rudding Park's Hawtree Course is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland golf course near Harrogate in North Yorkshire. Martin Hawtree designed the course, which opened in 1995 within Rudding Park's historic estate. A current published scorecard source lists the longest White tees at 6,883 yards, although the club itself concentrates its online material on an interactive hole guide rather than a conventional text scorecard.

The course received a new routing in 2019, including a three-hole sequence that Rudding Park describes as its Yorkshire version of Augusta's 'Amen Corner'. The par-3 14th is called Rhododendron Glade and measures 163 yards from the yellow tees. Rudding Park accepts visitor play and operates the course alongside a six-hole Short Course, but the latter is a separate layout and is not included in this record.

The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,883 yards. Designed by Martin Hawtree, the course originally opened in 1995. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, TrackMan Range, Putting Green, Short Game Area, Golf Academy, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Club Fitting, and 4 more.

Origins

The Mackaness family purchased Rudding Park in 1972 and prepared a wider leisure-development plan the following year. Golf eventually became one of the estate's major recreation components, with Martin Hawtree commissioned to design the full-size course.

Did You Know?
The course's current routing includes a three-hole sequence explicitly modelled as Rudding Park's own version of Augusta's Amen Corner.

Development

The 18-hole Hawtree Course opened in 1995. In 2019 Rudding Park introduced a new routing that created its three-hole 'Amen Corner' sequence. The wider golf operation has subsequently expanded to include a six-hole Short Course and a technology-focused practice academy.

Today

Rudding Park operates the Hawtree Course for members, visitors, golf days and hotel guests, with year-round buggy use advertised and extensive practice facilities centred on the TrackMan range.
