Segregansett Country Club is a private 18-hole golf club at 85 Gulliver Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. Its history begins in 1893 as Highland Golf Links, initially a three-hole course. H.
Findlay and modified during construction by Joseph Ohlson. The club purchased the 158-acre Gulliver Estate in 1908, and further land acquisition ultimately enabled expansion to 18 holes. Seventy additional acres were purchased in 1965, and the full 18-hole course opened in 1974.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,613 yards, course rating 73.3 and slope rating 133. Designed by A.H. Findlay and Joseph Ohlson, the course originally opened in 1893. It is open to members and their guests. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Short Game Area, Restaurant, Dining, Clubhouse, Membership.
Segregansett traces its roots to 1893, when local golfers organised Highland Golf Links as a three-hole course in Taunton. The club later moved to land associated with Samuel Gulliver and George Crane at the present area. H.
Findlay designed the original nine-hole layout, with Joseph Ohlson making modifications during construction. The organisation incorporated in 1899.
The club purchased the 158-acre Gulliver Estate in 1908 and continued adding land. A major expansion became possible when 70 acres were acquired from Laneway Farm in 1965. The completed 18-hole course opened in 1974.
Geoffrey Cornish is documented as undertaking remodeling in 1976. Later work included irrigation upgrades, redesign of the seventh and ninth holes, additional tee options, construction of a driving range and short-game facility, and renovation of more than fifty bunkers.
Segregansett remains a private 18-hole club serving Taunton and surrounding southeastern Massachusetts. The modern Blue course is 6,613 yards and par 72.
